About AskTarot

A tarot reader who's awake at 3 a.m., never tired, and never trying to sell you a candle.

AskTarot is a conversational tarot experience built around three AI readers. You shuffle, you ask, you talk back. The cards don't predict your future. They give you a better question to sit with.

Why we built this

A few years ago, one of us pulled a card at 2 a.m. on the kitchen floor — the kind of night where you don't want advice, you want a mirror. The deck did what decks do: it reflected something back that we already half-knew but couldn't say out loud.

We wanted to bottle that moment. Not the mysticism, not the aesthetic — the function. A pause. A prompt. A second voice that isn't your own anxious one.

We're building AskTarot for the version of you that doesn't have a therapist on speed dial, doesn't trust the wellness industry, and doesn't want a stranger on Etsy reading your love life for forty dollars. You want something quieter. Something that's there at 3 a.m. without judgment, without a sales funnel, without a horoscope app trying to upsell you a birth chart.

That's the whole project. A reflective tool, dressed in 78 cards, available when you need it.

Three readers, three lenses

Tarot has never been one voice. Different readers see different things in the same spread — that's the point. So we built three.

Luna

Luna

Intuitive & Nurturing

Luna reads with softness. She notices the moon phase, the season, the feeling underneath the question. She's the reader you go to when you don't quite know what's wrong, only that something is.

Best for: emotional check-ins, relationship questions, days when you need to be met where you are.

Raven

Raven

Direct & Mystical

Raven doesn't flatter. She's the friend who tells you what you already know but have been avoiding. Her readings are short, sharp, and occasionally uncomfortable.

Best for: decisions you're stalling on, patterns you keep repeating, moments you need honesty more than comfort.

Sage

Sage

Analytical & Wise

Sage reads tarot the way a scholar reads a poem — through symbols, archetypes, and the long lineage of the deck. Expect references to Jung, alchemy, and the Marseille tradition.

Best for: deep dives, symbolic spreads like Celtic Cross, anyone who wants to actually understand what the cards mean.

You can switch readers any time. Many people keep all three — one for the heart, one for the gut, one for the head.

What tarot is to us

We need to be precise about this, because the internet is full of bad takes in both directions.

Tarot is not a prediction engine. It does not know who you'll marry, whether you'll get the job, or what the stock market will do on Tuesday. Anyone — human or AI — who tells you otherwise is selling you something.

What tarot is, in our view, is a structured way to think out loud. The cards are old, the images are dense, and the act of pulling one forces a small moment of slowness. You bring the question. The card gives you an unexpected angle. You do the work.

AskTarot is a mirror, not an oracle. Our readers are good at asking the question behind your question. They are not good — and will never claim to be good — at telling you what happens next. Nobody is.

If you can hold that frame, tarot becomes one of the most useful reflection tools ever invented. If you can't, no amount of mysticism will help.

What we don't do

To be clear, in plain English:

We don't predict lottery numbers, stock prices, or anything else where being wrong would cost you money.

If a reading suggests an outcome, treat it as a hypothesis about your inner state, not a forecast.

We're not a replacement for a doctor, a therapist, or a lawyer.

If you're in crisis, please reach out to a professional or a crisis line. We'll say this inside readings too, when it matters.

We don't run dark patterns.

No fake urgency, no "premium readings reveal your true future," no upsells disguised as insight. The free tier is real. The paid tier just gives you more of the same thing.

We don't train models on your private readings.

Your conversations belong to you. See our privacy page for the boring legal version.

We'd rather be a smaller company that you trust than a bigger one that you don't.

Who's behind this

AskTarot is built by a small team — engineers, a tarot practitioner of fifteen years, and a designer who used to make meditation apps and got tired of the genre's beige softness. We're independent. No VC chasing predictions revenue. No astrology conglomerate. Just a few people who think the intersection of AI and inner life deserves more care than it's getting. If you want to know more about the humans, write to us. We answer.
